How can we help shepherd environmental sustainability and uplift the lives and livelihoods of farmers – toward a water and food secure world for all? 

Farmer-led irrigation is a revolution already in progress that has the potential to positively change the fate of millions of smallholder farmers. In order to scale-up farmer-led irrigation and fast-track inclusive economic growth, the international community needs to boldly advance sustainable investments.

Biodiversity

Umusambi Village is a beautifully restored wetland area, providing a sanctuary for over 50 endangered Grey Crowned Cranes saved from the illegal pet trade. These majestic birds have been disabled as a result of captivity and are unable to be returned to the wild. Their new permanent home provides an enriching environment for them to enjoy nature again.

Tree Planting

One Tree Planted has been working with WRI to grow millions of trees throughout the world. They visited our partner ARCOS, a network of women-led cooperatives that restore farms and forests to transform Western Rwanda. Together, they have grown 42,000 trees to enrich the local environment, prevent erosion, and create social and ecological benefits for the community.
