Installing the borehole in this remote location was extremely hard but has changed the lives of everyone who lives there.

Renewable Energy

For many Cameroonians, electricity comes at a high cost. 

Only half of Cameroon’s population has access to electricity, and those who have access to power often experience lengthy outages.  

The upcoming 420 MW Nachtigal Hydropower Plant will help Cameroon increase its electricity generating capacity by 30% and will replace expensive thermal energy with cheaper renewable hydropower energy.

Reforestation

Some 360,000 seedlings have been planted by refugees and host communities on more than a 100 hectares (247 acres) in and around the Minawao refugee camp in northern Cameroon. 

This ambitious reforestation project has been carried out since 2018 with spectacular results. 

It is part of the Great Green Wall, an African-led initiative that aims to grow an 8,000-kilometer continent-wide barrier to stop the ongoing desertification of the Sahel.
