Costa Rica is the eco-capital of Latin America, offering rich biodiversity and generating most of its electricity from clean sources.

 In fact, 25 % of its land is designated a wildlife reserve or National Park and protected from development. 

Costa Rica was on a mission to become the first country to have zero emissions by 2021. Last year, it had to revise that goal and admit it was overly ambitious. 

But it is still one of the greenest countries on the planet and setting the goal has increased environmental awareness and helped reduce carbon output.

We strive to only provide our guests with products that come from earth-friendly, sustainable sources, and practices. 

That’s why we try to grow as much of our own produce as possible right on the hotel grounds, so we can ensure these fruits of the earth are grown without added chemicals and without creating excess waste. 

In addition, whatever we can’t grow ourselves, we try to grow at the owner’s property called La Senda (which you can visit on our one-of-a-kind La Senda tour), or at neighboring properties where we know your food is coming from a safe, sustainable source.

We personally select and obtain our coffees straight from the farm. 

We look for new flavors, processes, and varieties that Costa Rican producers offer but are rarely accessible directly to consumers.
