Dani Kouyaté hails from a family of griots (traditional storytellers). He studied cinematic creation at the African Institute of Cinematic Studies in Ouagadougou and later earned advanced degrees in Paris. Kouyaté's work often draws from African oral traditions, as seen in his film Keïta! l'Héritage du griot (1995), which retells the epic of Sundiata Keita. He continues to contribute to both cinema and theater, working across Europe and Africa.
